ALADDIN - 18th December 2009 - 10th January 2010 It might not have the big-name star studded cast that New Wimbledon Theatre's version has, but Epsom Playhouse's production of Aladdin certainly does not disappoint. Its big name star is Ben Nickless who plays Wishee Washee. The zany comedian has bags of energy and keeps the audience entertained throughout the whole show. He is a particular favourite with the kids, but also manages to keep the grown-ups laughing with his many one-liners and impressions. Full of colour, toe-tapping music and fast-paced dance routines, the show has plenty of special effects and a fantastic supporting cast, worthy of any West End stage. Add to that superb scenery and a fantastic costume wardrobe, the show is definitely not one to miss. Katherine Newton, 12/2009 I haven't been to many pantomimes, if any. But Aladdin, at Epsom Playhouse had the audience in stitches. Another member of the audience stated "It was hilarious and very entertaining right from the beginning", and another said "at one point the humour had me in tears". There was a positive interaction between the audience and the cast all the way through the play, which included children volunteering to go up on stage towards the end to play musical instruments. Despite the abundance of humour added into the script the cast obviously didn't think it was enough! I personally enjoyed the show immensely, laughing all the way through and admiring the talent of the cast, as did the other viewers I spoke to. However I think everyone's favourite character was the comedian Wishee Washee played by Ben Nickless, from BBC1's Let Me Entertain You. Coming in throughout the play and between scenes, he kept the whole audience entertained throughout. Jenny Bartlett, featured in Epsom Guardian, 24/12/2009 THE SOUND OF LAUGHTER - March 2009 - Nov 2009 Ben Nickless is different. His impersonations and accidents are beautifully timed. Barbara Champion, The Stage: 03/2009 Impressionist Ben Nickless has a bright future to look forward to. His own slightly quirky speaking voice is made for comedy and his impressions are truly accurate. Jim Kennedy, Encore Magazine: 2009 Ben Nickless, the third artiste to prove that what he lacks in height he can make up for with talent, provided strong support including amusing impressions ranging from a gorilla to Victor Meldrew. Roger Paine, Eastbourne Herald: 2009 28th March 2009 – One Night Only GREAT NIGHT OF VARIETY WITH JOHNNIE CASSON, CANNON AND BALL One Night Only was a charity variety show in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support and organised by Coronation Street actor Tom Hudson. And what a terrific show it was. Ben Nickless, donning a variety of props, skilfully impersonated a whole series of pop singers. Julia Anderson, Halifax Evening Courier 31/03/2009
